Those. you, who do not know how to knit on stocking needles or circular needles, will be able to knit a wonderful thing for yourself and not only for yourself! A distinctive feature of this knitting method is that you can knit anything on the back of your hand. From jacquard to beaded knitting. That is, due to the fact that knitting always goes in a straight line, you can improvise the way you like. Materials and tools. Yarn 100% wool 100g=300 meters.

Knitting needles No. 2.0 10 safety pins.

Let's get started

On the knitting needles we cast on half the stitches of the number that you would need for the cuff of a mitten or glove on stocking (circular) knitting needles.

ATTENTION! an odd number if a pattern or ornament with a central loop is expected and an odd number if this is not expected.

I have 29 loops. Glove for the right hand.

After the cast-on row, we knit the first row with PURL loops. In order for a beautiful scar to form across the face, which we will then hem with a needle.

Next we knit in stockinette stitch as much as we want for a beautiful hem of the gloves. for me it is 1.5 cm. And we knit the last front row (for 29 loops) Kr, *2 knit stitches together, yarn over* until there are 2 loops left on the left knitting needle. 1 person 1 edge.

Turn it over and knit the purl row with all purl...

it turns out a row with “holes”, which will be a beautiful edge of the cuff

We knit a cuff. Please note that when knitting is done with only two threads, I pin the non-working ball with a pin so that the threads do not get tangled.

Having knitted the cuffs, we proceed to knitting the thumb.

Without reaching one loop to the end of the front row, we begin to make increases for the thumb.

We knit the penultimate loop, and then knit an increase from the underlying loop, also knitting.

In the same place to get a clear line of increases.

Thus, by adding one stitch in each knit row, in the same place, you will get a beautiful line of thumb increases

So we add loops until it turns out: 10 loops on the thumb + 1 loop + 29 on the back of the hand:

On the purl row we knit only 10 loops (this is the thumb) and slip these loops onto a pin. Then we knit the middle loop and remove it with a pin (you can use a marker). And then we knit 29 stitches purlwise. We turn it over and then knit the fabric with straight stockinette stitch until the beginning of the little finger. If you want to embroider something, or decorate the glove in some other way, now is the time. I have a cornflower knitted with jacquard on my gloves

Having knitted to the beginning of the little finger, you need to distribute the loops on the fingers. I have 29 loops. I distributed it like this. little finger - 7 loops, ring and index finger - 8 loops. middle-9 loops. And between them one loop. 32 loops. The discrepancy is explained simply.

There are gaps between the fingers. If you don't fill them, there will be holes. I'll tell you how to avoid them.

In the photo above there are 6 loops on the little finger. And from the next loop THREE is knitted. :

Of these three loops, the first will go into the little finger, like the seventh, the middle one, like a jumper between the fingers, the third, like the eighth, on the ring finger. We remove the middle loop with a pin. On the front side of the work. It is this loop that will lie on top of the assembled three loops on the back and inner sides of the palm and will close the hole between the fingers. We will have 4 such “tricky loops”. In between: Thumb-index, index-middle, middle-ring, ring-little finger. But for now we only have the beginning of the little finger. We remove all the loops except the little finger onto an additional knitting needle or a large pin. Starting from here we knit only the little finger.

We knit up as much as the size of the little finger, round the finger and knit in the opposite direction. I show with my thumb:

Making reductions

Then we make increases

We begin to knit in the opposite direction, knitting the edge loop together with the underlying edge loop.

Exactly the same in MK on mittens.

As a result, having untied all 4 fingers except the thumb, we have:

Let's start closing the holes between the fingers. from the little finger side, we will collect all the loops on the knitting needle, leaving the loops between the fingers on the pins BEHIND the work. We purl 7 loops of the index finger and purl the eighth loop of the index finger, the loop from the pin between the index and middle finger and the first loop of the middle finger so that the loop from the pin (the middle of the three) is on top of the other two. This way the hole will close.

The gloves are knitted in the round on 5 knitting needles No. 2 from “Competitive” yarn - Pekhorka in 2 threads, 150 grams were used. (for 3 pairs of gloves it takes 5 skeins of 100 grams each.) You need to stock up on safety pins in advance for temporarily removing loops - about 10 pieces.

Before you start knitting, you need to place your palm on a sheet of paper and circle it with a pen strictly perpendicularly. You can outline the left and right hands separately, but the right one is enough. What is it for? Gloves sold in stores are knitted for standard hands and often do not take into account the anatomy of real people: - the thumb is knitted strictly on the side of the glove, while in most people the thumb muscle is attached in the middle of the palm and the finger is more likely to bend towards the palm; - then the fingers of the gloves (for the index, middle, ring and little fingers) begin at the same level, although such people are extremely rare. This is why gloves fit best on the hands when they are knitted for a specific person.

In addition to the palm drawing, you still need to take a few measurements:
1. Wrist circumference, in this case - 19 cm;
2. Palm circumference, in this case - 22 cm;
3. It wouldn’t hurt to measure the thickness of your fingers (at the widest point), in our case - 8; 7.5; 7.5; 7 and 7 cm.
It is better to put all measurements on the drawing so that they are at hand. The knitting density and the required number of loops are determined by the circumference of the palm. For gloves of this size, 44 stitches are cast on on these needles using these threads.

Description of knitting gloves

Cuff - 44 loops are cast on 4 knitting needles, knitted 7 cm with a 1x1 elastic band.
Palm - after the cuff, the palm begins to be knitted in stockinette stitch, but in the first row I decreased 4 loops (1 on each knitting needle, knitting the knit stitch with the knit stitch and purl stitch together), which results in 40 loops. In the next row, on one of the knitting needles (you decided to knit the left or right glove first), the knitting of the wedge for the thumb begins. The increase is performed by 2 reverse yarn overs between 9 and 10 loops in every 3rd row (see picture - left thumb, for the right hand - symmetrically between 1 and 2 loops). Referring to the pattern of the palm, we determine the height of the wedge for the thumb (on the remaining knitting needles, knitting in stockinette stitch without increments).

Loop symbols for the circuit

Facial;
= yarn over;

Upon reaching the desired height, remove all the wedge loops for the thumb using safety pins, including 9 and 10 loops (for the right glove 1 and 2) for further knitting of the thumb (14 loops in total). To compensate, cast on 2 chain stitches above the pins and continue knitting on 4 needles (10 stitches each) until the gap between the little finger and ring finger is reached.
According to the calculated knitting density, 16 loops are needed for one finger (in the described version). 6 stitches for the little finger are removed using safety pins from the needle opposite the thumb, and 6 loops from the adjacent needle. To complete the gap between the little and ring fingers, we cast on 4 air loops. The distribution of glove loops for tying fingers and the number of additional loops are shown in the table.

Distribution of glove loops when knitting fingers

Since the little finger is closer to the base of the palm than the index, middle and ring fingers, we use the 40-6-6+4=32 loops available on the knitting needles to knit 2 more rows (checking the hand pattern) for free movement of the little finger.
After knitting two rows for three fingers, 12 loops for the index finger and 12 loops for the ring finger are removed using safety pins (with 4 additional loops for the gap between the fingers). For the spaces between the middle and index fingers and the middle and ring fingers, 4 more air loops are cast on.

Middle finger - The resulting 16 loops are knitted on 4 knitting needles to the required length (checking the pattern). The finger closure is done by knitting two stitches together on each needle, the remaining 4 stitches are gathered together, secured, and the thread is broken.
Forefinger - To the 12 loops removed from the safety pins, we cast on 4 more loops from the same air loops in the gap between the middle and index fingers. The 16 stitches cast on are distributed on 4 knitting needles. The index finger is performed similarly to the middle finger.
Ring finger - the existing 12 loops are removed onto the knitting needles, 4 more loops are cast on them from the same air loops in the space between the ring and middle fingers, then everything is done as for the middle finger.
Little finger - 12 loops are removed from safety pins onto knitting needles, and 4 more loops are cast on from the air loops of the space between the little finger and the ring finger. Next - as for the other fingers.
Thumb - we remove 14 loops from safety pins onto the knitting needles, cast on 6 more loops: 2 from 2 air loops made above the thumb wedge and 2 from the gap between the removed and air loops. We distribute the resulting 20 loops on 4 knitting needles and knit 3 rows, after which we decrease 1 time on each knitting needle (2 knit stitches together). This trick will allow the thumb to move freely. Next, from 16 loops we knit the thumb to the desired length, finishing the finger in the same way as the rest.

The second glove is performed in the same way.

The ends of the threads on each finger are crocheted to the inside and secured.

For those of you who want to learn how to knit thick simple men's or openwork women's gloves with knitting needles, this lesson from work is offered. In addition to the description, the lesson contains diagrams necessary for needlework. We will talk about how to knit this product classically, that is, using five knitting needles. The lesson is supplemented with relevant photos and video materials that describe in detail and show how different gloves are knitted.

Men's classic gloves

The classic technique of knitting gloves involves starting the needlework with an elastic band on the wrist. The pattern for gloves is chosen depending on who they are intended for. It can be a relief or jacquard pattern, which will suit almost everyone, or an openwork pattern exclusively for women. It is better to start a real master class with simple garter stitch gloves, which are more suitable for beginners. Most often, this knitting is used for men's gloves. For example, we knit the left glove.

Before starting work, you must carefully take measurements from your palm, starting from the wrist. In the example, the length of the brush in a circle is nineteen centimeters. Next comes the length to the beginning of the thumb, equal to six centimeters. The third measurement is the distance to the little finger, equal to nine centimeters. The last size is up to the index finger. Let's start knitting gloves by casting on sixty loops (P) on two knitting needles, removing one of them after casting on. We will make the first row with a 1*1 elastic band, and place all the loops equally on four knitting needles. Let's prepare the fifth for work. Be sure to mark the first one with a pin for orientation. Note that numbers 1 and 2 are the top parts of the product, and numbers 3 and 4 are the bottom part of the glove. We continue the needlework, closing it in a circle. Note also that in circular knitting there are no edge loops at all.

Knitting gloves in the classic way begins with a 1*1 elastic band, the length of which each needlewoman determines at her own discretion, from two to nine centimeters. After the elastic band comes the thumb, and for this, loops are added. For a glove on the left hand, the wedge is placed at No. 4, and for the right hand at No. 3. You can start it directly, or by completing several rows of stocking stitch. We add two loops with yarn overs, one of which is made before the last P of the fourth number, and the second after it. Then we perform three circles without added loops, knitting yarn overs using the back thread, otherwise holes will appear in the fabric. The knitting of the right glove is different, and yarn overs are done on the third number, but at the very beginning. So we gradually increase at the end and beginning of rows Nos. 4 and 3, but after three or four circles. Additions of P must be done through one, 3, 5 or 7 P, that is, there must be an odd number of them. Having completed the length of the height of the wedge, that is, six centimeters by measurement, we will finish by adding loops and placing them on two additional pins.

Above these Ps, air loops are assembled, half as many in number. Let's make one circle with the units that are already in the work, without changing their number. Then we will decrease P on the fourth needle, making two loops together. We reduce it until it remains the same as at the beginning. In our case it is 15 pieces (pcs).

Then you need to continue knitting to the little finger point, and again place the P to continue working. To properly place everything, let’s distribute it on the 8th share, 8 pieces plus 4. There are fifteen pieces for each share. Two are added to the index, and the same two are removed from the nameless. As a result, for the little finger we have fifteen Ps, the ring finger will take thirteen pieces, the middle finger will take fifteen and the index finger will take seventeen.

It is imperative to make air loops between them so that they become jumpers. The entire P layout is performed in the form of a graphic diagram, which must subsequently be followed in full. Now let's make a hole for the little finger. When the P on the second knitting needle ends, you need to remove 9 pcs on an additional pin, and place 7 P from the third number on the second pin. Next, four air stitches are formed on the second number, and all the last stitches are knitted on number 3. As a result, the stitches remain on three needles, and we will knit the fourth one. In this state, work is continued for three or four circles until the beginning of the thumb is reached.

At this stage, you need to start knitting the index finger. It is knitted on the first number (at the beginning), and at the end of the fourth. In this case, the number of P is seventeen units. Having completed the jumper loops, we will receive twenty-one of them, that is, 4 pieces will be added. Knitting the index finger is done on three knitting needles, and the stitches are therefore divided into three parts. We knit nine P on the first number, the others are placed on additional devices (excluding the eight extreme ones, which are cast on two knitting needles). We divide all units from No. 1 into two parts, 7 of which go to the new one, and two remain in their place, where four air stitches must be added. Next, we knit one stitch with the next one, resulting in 7 pieces on each. Next, we knit circular rows to the end, and make decreases until there are two units everywhere.

At the end, carefully tighten the loops, sewing them together. After the index finger, the middle finger is performed from fifteen P plus eight, for a total of 23 (8+8+7). Its knitting is done using the same technique. We remove everything from the pins and place it on the knitting needles, that is, 8 pieces from the top of the glove to the first, and 7 from the bottom to No. 2. Now let's pick up four units from the jumper and knit the same number more. After this, we enter the fourth number to complete the 4 pieces that remain and add four more air ones. After this, there are twenty-three units in the work, that is, 8 + 8 and another 7. Finish the middle finger with the same technique as the index finger, after which the ring finger is knitted. Remove the P from the pins and place it in the amount of 7+7+3. Let's dial another P where the three units are located. These will be the P on the jumper of the middle finger. We knit P in the round as usual. For the little finger, the P is removed from the additional needles and left on two needles, then four P are cast on from the jumper.

As a result, we have nineteen P in work, which we will distribute 7+6+6. Let's continue knitting using the usual technique. Now all that remains is knitting the thumb. It is performed on two needles, with loops from a pin and cast on from a hole. Knitting is done in a circular line. In the area of the nail, decreases are made, then the loops are sutured and secured. At this stage, we figured out how to knit men's gloves using accessible techniques.

This video master class is designed specifically for beginners. To consolidate your knowledge of knitting classic men's gloves, you need to carefully watch it to the end. From the video tutorial you will learn many features and details, thanks to which you can knit gloves easily and simply.

In the cold season, you need to take care of such items of clothing as gloves. Of course, it’s always easier to buy them in a store or market. What if you try to make it yourself. This product will be a pleasure to wear. After all, in addition, it will warm you up to think that it is the result of your labor. In addition, this will be a great gift for loved ones. They can be made using different methods. The fastest and most convenient knitting needles. There is only one problem for beginners or already pros.

Having understood the principle of needlework, you can provide this wardrobe item for the whole family. In addition, knitting products is not only an opportunity to create something of your own and original, but also to escape from everyday problems and worries.

The fashion for gloves, as well as for doing it yourself, arose back in the 16th century in Spain. In Russia they gained popularity in the 20th century. This clothing is practical and easy to use. They were especially widely used among the sports part of the population. In the 21st century, they began to be decorated with embroidery, beads and other accessories. It is better to make this wardrobe item from acrylic wool. It will not shrink after washing and does not fade. The skin in such material breathes and is provided with warmth. An excellent addition to them can be a scarf or the same color.

  1. The secret to neat clothes that fit beautifully is to use fine wool for knitting gloves and knitting needles.
  2. Make the gloves a centimeter narrower in width. Then they will fit, not too big.
  3. Before you begin, take measurements of your hand.
  4. We measure the width just above the thumb. The height from the hand to the base of the thumb, index, little finger.
  5. To calculate the number of loops, you need to multiply their number in one centimeter by the arm circumference, doubled. Or calculate the horizontal density.
  6. Gloves for a child or yourself can be knitted from the bottom up or from the top down.

Hand measurements under the glove

It is better for beginners to learn a lesson on how to knit gloves with knitting needles from small things. Let's look at the example of gloves for children with five knitting needles for a hand with a girth of 13 centimeters:

Children's gloves

  1. We begin to knit gloves for four fingers, except for the first. To do this you need to cast on 6 loops. Used: knit, purl, satin stitch.
  2. Then we distribute them in 2 pieces on 3 needles and stretch them one by one with stockinette stitch. The number of bends will be 2 times greater, since in the second row you need to make more knit stitches. We knit each cut according to size. The little finger is 3.6 cm, the ring and middle finger are 5 cm, the index finger is 4.5 cm. Next, the work is transferred to other knitting needles, and the resulting fingers are sutured.
  3. We place our fingers on 4 instruments. Two on one side, two on the other. We continue our business from the little finger. We knit the loops that go from the fingers together and work in stockinette stitch one by one until the moment when we need to make the thumb.
  4. It knits just like the others. Height 3 cm, you need to add a couple of times through the line, one loop at a time.
  5. When it is ready, attach it to the main knitting. Decrease the number of stitches at the beginning and end, as well as 4 stitches at the base.
  6. Next, through the strip we prepare a loop of the thumb with the place of the palm, on the other side with the back part.
  7. Now we knit an elastic band.
  8. We do the second thing in exactly the same way.

The hand circumference of this example is 20 cm. Let's look at a sample of a women's glove from hand to fingers step by step.

Rubber. You will need 52 loops that need to be spread onto knitting needles. There will be 13 lines in the elastic band; they can be knitted in different colors.

Base of the thumb. On the left hand we make an increase on the fourth club at the end of the row, for the right at the beginning. Let's say you start knitting a woman's glove for your right hand. First we make a yarn over, then cast again through the loop. Then stocking stitch. In each row, add two bends, plus yarn over, and so on alternately until the beginning of the first finger, when you knit 6 cm high. After this, the bends are thrown over the pins. Seven pieces for one, six for the other. We connect another needle with knitting, on which we need to get six loops.

Knitting pattern for high gloves

Now reduce the knitting of the glove by knitting two loops together until one remains. Make three more stripes before the beginning of the little finger. We divide the knitting into eight parts, four on each side. You should have 13 loops. All fingers differ in width, so leave 13 for the little and middle fingers, 15 for the index finger, and 11 for the fourth. Begin making each cut for the finger one at a time. If you started with the index needle, make 4 loops on the first needle, 4 on the second, 5 on the third, and transfer the other five to the next one.

Starting from the nail, you need to reduce it until it is rounded. On 1 and 3 knitting sticks at the beginning of the row, on 2 and 4 at the end. We finish until there are 6 bends left. We connect them together.

We knit the remaining limbs of the arm in the same way. There should be 19 stitches left for the middle finger, 17 for the ring finger, and 16 for the little finger. To knit the thumb for the glove, you need to cast on five stitches on two double needles. The outer three loops are made with another knitting needle, plus the loops from the edge of the thumb. For the fourth knitting needle, loops are cast on from the main material. Next we knit the glove as usual. The second glove is made in the same way as the first, but remember that it will be a mirror image. This is how we learned how to knit gloves for women for beginners in this business.

Pay attention to the photo. This DIY knitted mitt model has recently been very fashionable and convenient, especially for those who drive a car.

Hand knitted mitts

Fashionistas can wear them without hiding their beautiful manicure. Making this type of hand wear is as easy as shelling pears, as you don’t need to bother with your fingers. Just start knitting with an elastic band, and knit the places where the five should begin in a stitch.

How to knit gloves for men? The principle of knitting is the same as for women's knitting. Here are the instructions and diagram. We cast on 64 loops and spread them out in equal numbers onto 4 knitting needles. The first two needles will be for the top of the glove, the other two for the palm. We make an elastic band of 35 rows. Using the third and fourth knitting needles, we knit braids that will consist of 27 loops. The rest of the work is done with the outer stitch.

After 22 rows, pin 8 stitches to make a thumb hole. Make a draft of 8 air loops. This is needed for the top of the finger. Knit with pattern and stockinette stitch alternately. On lane 26 there are only external snares. They are distributed to the remaining fingers.

To knit the second finger for a men's glove, remove 16 loops from the auxiliary needle. Plus add 4 more loops, it turns out 20. Distribute 8 on two needles and 12 on the third. You need to knit around to the middle of the nail. Then you begin to decrease, knitting two loops as one. When 2 loops remain, finish knitting by tightening and cutting the thread from the inside.

For the third finger, take 8 loops at the top and bottom of the glove. Pull 4 loops from the base of the index finger, and add 3 chain loops to the side of the fourth finger. Divide the stitches onto three needles. Knit like an index finger.

For the ring finger, take 4 loops from the base of the middle one, and on the side of the little finger, make a yarn over from two chain stitches.

The first finger is knitted with 8 pins and add 14 from the beginning. Wet iron the finished product.

In order to master the technique of knitting and knitting, you can watch a master class from some experienced master in this matter. Before choosing a tool, decide for what purpose you are purchasing it. As it has already turned out, to make gloves you will need stocking needles. There are 5 pieces per set. The loops are spread over 4, and the fifth one is worked. They are different in width and length. Don't forget about the auxiliary needles. They will be your assistants. To prevent the loops from unraveling, throw the knitting over them.

If you have never practiced this skill, try it with small models; mittens for kids will come in handy. Carefully study the glove knitting patterns. Calculate how much yarn you will need. It's better to buy it with a reserve. Suddenly this will no longer be on sale in the near future. In case of shortage, you can alternate with other threads. If you are making things for children, then knit from top to bottom so that, if possible, you can unravel and add size. After all, they grow very quickly.

It should be remembered that knitted items require careful handling. Firstly, there must be delicate washing, and secondly, proper storage.

Wash items by hand or on a gentle cycle, avoiding mechanical stress. Rinse your clothes well, otherwise the powder may ruin the color. Dry horizontally to avoid deformation. When ironing, place a damp cloth and steam the product through it.

Before putting the item in the closet, dry it thoroughly. Store in piles, but not tightly packed. If there are ties on them, there is no need to cut them off. Crochet or knit to the wrong side and secure. Remove the pellets with a brush specially designed for this purpose.

Now you know everything about gloves, including how to knit them yourself. Additionally, we suggest watching a video on knitting other models of gloves.

Openwork models of gloves are relevant for autumn and spring. In combination with a beautiful scarf, they will complement your feminine, delicate look.

If you knit gloves made of wool mixture or cotton thread, they will retain the elasticity and beauty of the openwork pattern.

Select the latter, for example, from the following options:

Knit an openwork pattern on:

  • back of the glove
  • rubber band
  • half of each finger from the back side

Some models contain it from the beginning of knitting to the fingertips only on the outside.

Be sure to do your hands correctly before you start knitting the gloves.

How to knit long and short fingerless gloves with knitting needles?

the girl has knitted long fingerless gloves on her hands

  • The first step is to determine the length of the future product to the wrist. That is, in the short version, for example, 5 cm, and in the long version - above the elbow.
  • For long mitts, take an additional measurement of the circumference of the place where they begin - above the elbow, elbow, below it.
  • Select a pattern or several to work with and make a test pattern. Determine the knitting density.
  • Draw a diagram of future fingerless gloves, mark the narrow and wide areas. For them, plan to decrease the loops and widen the fabric. For example, for high mitts with the beginning just below the elbow, it is convenient to decrease 3-4 loops every 2 cm and continue until the wrist. Then pick up the loops for the palm.
  • Mark the wrist area with a short elastic band, a purl row, and openwork holes for decoration with a lace or ribbon.
  • A number of needlewomen mark the place for the thumb with a wedge of extension from the wrist. Others knit straight fabric and leave open loops for opening it.
  • Continue working the main pattern/s up to the knuckles or a little higher.
  • Reduce to 8 loops and switch to a tight elastic band, garter stitch, openwork insert at a height up to the middle of the middle finger. Or distribute the loops as for knitting the fingers of a glove and knit them to a height of 2-3 cm. Close the loops in the usual way.
  • Return to the thumb and knit the fabric for it to a height of 1.5-3 cm.
  • Repeat all steps to knit a second fingerless glove.

Decorate the finished products with beads, seed beads, stones, and ready-made compositions of flowers, leaves, and fur.

How to knit women's gloves: diagram

cute ready-made knitted women's gloves

There are probably more women's models of gloves in magazines and on the Internet.

They are:

  • long and short
  • openwork, stockinette stitch and warm patterns
  • decorated with ribbons, knitted and ready-made decorative elements
  • with flared and fitted hems

The knitting pattern for women's gloves is close to the classic one:

  • elastic cuff
  • blade with extension to thumb hole
  • decrease over it and smooth work on the base of the little finger
  • distribution of finger loops
  • knitting each separately from the little finger to the index finger, vice versa or in discord
  • completing the glove by knitting a thumb house
  • repeating actions for the second instance in mirror order

Knitted gloves - mittens

cute mitten gloves with a heart and buttons

The combination of knitted mittens and gloves in one product has found its fans among all generations and ages.

  • Getting started is the same for both mittens and gloves. Rib the cuff and continue with the base pattern, adding an extension wedge for the thumb. Be careful in its location. For the right mitten glove there are 2 knitting needles at the end, for the left one - 4.
  • Leave loops for the thumb hole, add half of them. Continue knitting in the round, decreasing over the remaining stitches to the original number at the start of work.
  • Having knitted 3-4 cm, knit the back of the mitten, and knit the inside. This is where you marked the start of the finger flap.
  • Distribute the fabric to work over each finger and tie them halfway.
  • Return to the thumb hole and knit the fabric for it.
  • Pick up stitches from the purl row under your fingers and cast on the same number of stitches. Close into a circle.
  • Knit the first ones with stockinette stitch, the second ones with an elastic band, for example, 2x2.
  • After 2 cm, switch to the same pattern in a circle.
  • Having reached the height of the upper phalanx of the middle finger, decrease the loops on the valve in a manner convenient for you.
  • Pull the final 4 loops with thread. For a more rounded finger house, perform this step with 8 loops.
  • Knit the second mitten-glove symmetrically.

For originality and convenience, sew 1 button onto the finished products in the area where the cuff transitions into the main fabric on the back. Tie a tourniquet to the tops of the valve, roll it into a loop and secure its free edge.

In the open finger position, hook the flap onto the button.

How to knit children's gloves with knitting needles?

Knitted gloves for boys

knitted blue gloves-mittens for boys

Boys love to do a lot of things with their hands, so it is important for them to have access to each of their fingers. Mother craftsmen just have to put on a few pairs of gloves per shift.

Consider the color scheme of the boy’s main wardrobe, combination with a hat, scarf and shoes. Then there will be much more room for your imagination to fly.

In future articles we will look at the features of knitting gloves for children and adults. Therefore, we will not dwell on them for a long time.

Knitting needlework is akin to meditation.

Knit gloves, mittens, mittens for yourself and your loved ones with pleasure. Let your products warm them in the cold, and make you happy while knitting.

Even loops for you!

I took the description of knitting by M. V. Maximova from the ABC of Knitting magazine (part 3) as the text basis.

Gloves are knitted in the round on five knitting needles. I will show you the simplest knitting: 1x1 rib, then stocking stitch - on the front side of the product - stockinette stitch. When you learn how to knit simple gloves, you can already knit using a pattern and using jacquard.
I have threads ready for gloves
and five knitting needles No. 3

Take your measurements

Calculation.
Be sure to knit the sample with your threads and calculate the knitting density from it.
For example, a knitting density of 1 cm is 2.53 p.
The number of loops to start working with is 2.53 x 19 cm (hand circumference) = 48.07 sts.
The result is rounded down (48 loops). Be sure to check whether the resulting number is divisible by 4.
I get 12 stitches for each knitting needle. If the total number of loops is divisible by 4 with a remainder, then you need to reduce it to a multiple of four (discard the remainder).

Start knitting gloves.
On 2 knitting needles placed together, cast on 48 stitches and release one of them. Then knit 1 row very tightly with a 1x1 elastic band, simultaneously distributing the loops on 4 knitting needles: knit the first 12 loops with the 1st knitting needle, another 12 loops with the 2nd knitting needle, then 12 loops with the 3rd knitting needle, and finally the last 12 loops knit with the 4th needle. All 48 loops are knitted and 4 knitting needles are put into work, the free 5th is working.
Attach a pin (marker) to the loops of the 1st knitting needle - it will serve as a guide in your work.
On the 1st and 2nd knitting needles there are loops on the upper part of the glove, on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles on the lower part (palm). Close the knitting in a circle by connecting the thread from the ball with the end remaining from the set of loops. There are no edge loops. Now knit clockwise along the outside of the circle with an elastic band of 1x1 (2-9 cm)

Knitting a wedge for the thumb.
On the left glove, the wedge is located on the 4th spoke, and on the right - on the 3rd.
Start it immediately after the elastic band or knit it a little with the main pattern. After the elastic, I knitted 3 rows in stockinette stitch, then started knitting the wedge. A wedge is made by adding loops.
Make the first addition (for the left glove) at the end of the 4th knitting needle: knit all the loops except the last one, then yarn over, knit the last stitch and yarn over again - there are 2 more loops on the 4th knitting needle. (I don’t do yarn overs - I don’t like holes in gloves, I pull out knit stitches crossed between the stitches of the previous row). The next 3 rows are without additions.
Make the first addition (for the right glove) at the beginning of the 3rd needle: 1 yarn over, 1 knit, 1 yarn over and then all the loops on the 3rd needle.
Make the second addition by under-knitting 3 loops on the 4th knitting needle: before and after them you need to double yarn over - on the 4th knitting needle there are 4 more loops than the original number of loops.
Make all the following additions after 3 rows, each time not knitting an odd number of loops at the end of the 4th knitting needle: 1,3,5,7, etc.
When the height of the wedge reaches the base of the thumb (6 cm) - I got +10 loops on the 4th knitting needle, stop adding, tie the loops of the 4th knitting needle to the wedge loops, slip the wedge loops onto 2 pins, and cast on air loops above them . There should be half as many of them as there are on the pins (it’s better to take an even number) - I have 6 stitches on the pins. and 5 pets, air cast on 6 pets.

Next, knit 1 round without changes, and in the next round, decrease on the 4th knitting needle: knit 2 together along the edges of the hole. Continue decreasing across the row until the original number of stitches remains on the 4th needle (12)

After this, knit the glove up to the little finger and distribute the loops for knitting the fingers.

Distribution of loops for four fingers.
We divide the total number of loops into 8 parts: 48 p.: 8 = 6 p. For each finger, 2 parts: one for the upper half, the other for the lower half: 6 p. + 6p. = 12p. (if division results in a remainder, then its loops are distributed equally, joining the loops of the upper halves; if the remainder is less than 4 units, then it is added to the loops of the fingers, starting with the index finger).
Then 2 more loops are attached to the loops of the index finger (12p. + 2p. = 14p.), subtracting them from the loops of the ring finger (12p. - 2p. = 10p.)
So, for the little finger - 12 loops, for the ring finger - 10 loops, for the middle finger - 12 loops, for the index finger - 14 loops.
Next, during the knitting process, bridges of 4 air loops are formed between the fingers. The result obtained is applied to the diagram and knitted, focusing on it. The first diagram is for my number of loops, and the second is for 60 loops.

After studying this page, you will be able to knit absolutely any gloves. Well, let's start with something simple.

Gloves are knitted in the round on 5 knitting needles, starting from the wrist.
Yarn consumption is approximately the same as for mittens: from 40 to 130 g.
To practice, tie the left glove on a woman's hand. When starting work, first of all take your measurements.

Start knitting gloves.
On 2 knitting needles placed together, cast on 60 stitches and release 1 of them. Then knit 1 row very tightly with an elastic band 1 X 1, simultaneously distributing the loops on 4 knitting needles: knit the first 15 loops with the 1st knitting needle, the next 15 loops with the 2nd knitting needle, then with the 3rd knitting needle another 15 loops and finally the last 15 loops with the 4th needle. Thus, all 60 loops are knitted and 4 knitting needles are put into work, with a free 5th working needle. Pin a pin to the loops of the first knitting needle - it will serve as a guide in your work. On the 1st and 2nd knitting needles there are loops on the upper part of the mitten, on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles on the lower part (palm).

Close the knitting in a circle by connecting the thread from the ball with the end remaining from the set of loops (the “tail”). There are no edge loops. Now knit a 1x1 rib (2-9 cm) clockwise around the outside of the circle.

Knitting a wedge for the thumb.

On the left glove, the wedge is placed on the 4th spoke, and on the right - on the 3rd. Start it immediately after the elastic band or knit it a little with the main pattern. A wedge is made by adding loops.
Make the first addition at the end of the 4th knitting needle: knit all the loops except the last one, then yarn over, knit the last loop and yarn over again - on the 4th knitting needle there are 2 more loops. Starting a new round, hold the yarn over with your finger so that it does not slip off the 4th needle. Knit the next 3-4 rounds without increments. On the right glove, make the first increase at the beginning of the 3rd needle: 1 yarn over, 1 knit yarn over, 1 yarn over and then all the stitches on the 3rd needle.
Make the second addition without knitting the last 3 loops on the 4th knitting needle: before and after them, yarn over. There are 4 more loops on the knitting needle. Perform all the following additions every 3-4 circles, each time without knitting an odd number of loops at the end of the 4th needle: 1, 3, 5, 7, etc.
When the height of the wedge reaches the base of the thumb (6cm), stop adding, tie the loops of the 4th knitting needle to the wedge loops, slip the wedge loops onto 2 pins, and cast on air loops above them. there should be two less of them than are on the pins (it’s better to dial an even number).
Next, knit 1 round without changes, and in the next round, decrease on the 4th knitting needle: knit 2 loops together along the edges of the hole. Continue working, decreasing every other row until there are 15 stitches left on the fourth needle (the original number). After this, knit the glove up to the little finger and distribute the loops for knitting the fingers.

Distribution of loops for four fingers.

The simplest way is to divide the glove loops into 8 parts: 60: 8 = 7p. (4 left). For each finger - 2 parts: one for the upper half, the other for the lower (7p. + 7p. = 14p.). The remainder is distributed equally, attaching it to the loops of the upper halves: 7p + 1p. = 8p. Now there are 15 loops for each finger. If the remainder is less than 4 units, it is added to the loops of the fingers, starting with the index. Then 2 more loops are added to the index loops, subtracting them from the ring loops. So, for the little finger - 15 loops, for the ring finger - 13 loops, for the middle finger - 15 loops, for the index finger - 17 loops. Next, during the knitting process, I form bridges of 4 air loops between the fingers. The result obtained is applied to the diagram and knitted, focusing on it.

Hole for little finger.

Knitting the index finger

The index finger is knitted first. Its loops are located at the beginning of the 1st knitting needle and at the end of the 4th - a total of 17 loops. After the jumper is formed, the number of loops will become equal to 21 (17p. + 4p. = 21p.). The finger is performed on 3 knitting needles (4th working needle), so the number of loops is divided by 3 - 7 loops on each knitting needle.
Knit the first 9 loops on the 1st knitting needle, and transfer all the rest to the auxiliary thread, except for the last 8: divide them equally and place them on 2 knitting needles.
For ease of use, divide the loops of the 1st knitting needle into 2 parts: transfer the first 7 loops to the new knitting needle, and leave the last 2 on the old knitting needle. Cast on 4 air loops and knit 1 loop from the next knitting needle - there are 7 loops on each knitting needle. Now knit in a circle until the middle of the nail and after that make decreases: when knitting a row, at the end of each knitting needle, knit 2 loops together with the front one behind the back walls until there are 2 loops on the knitting needles. Break the thread, thread the end into the needle, remove the knitting needles, sew the loops and pull tight. Hide the end of the thread on the wrong side.

Middle finger.

It is knitted after the index stitch (15 stitches + 8 stitches of two jumpers = 23 loops). The loops on the knitting needles should be placed like this: 8+8+7. Transfer 8 loops from the upper half of the glove from the thread to the 1st knitting needle and 7 loops from the bottom to the 2nd knitting needle. With the 3rd knitting needle, pick up 4 loops from the jumper of the index finger and knit 4 loops of the upper half. Put the 4th knitting needle into work, knit the remaining 4 loops on the knitting needle and add 4 chain stitches to them. There were 23 stitches on three needles (8+8+7). Next, use your finger in the same way as your index finger. Knitting the ring finger.

Transfer the loops from the thread to the knitting needles, starting from the upper half: 7+7+3. Using a knitting needle on which there are 3 loops, pick up the loops from the jumper of the middle finger and then knit in the round in the same way as the other fingers. Knitting the little finger.

Transfer the loops from the pins onto 2 knitting needles. With the 3rd knitting needle, cast on 4 loops from the jumper of the ring finger - there are 19 loops on the knitting needles. Distribute them like this: 7+6+6. Next, knit the finger like everyone else. Thumb.

Do it like this: transfer the loops from the pins to 2 knitting needles, and cast on the 3rd one from the upper edge of the hole as many loops as there were chain stitches. Now knit the finger in a circle until the middle of the nail, and then make decreases in the same way as in the other fingers.
A thumb made using a gradually expanding wedge is called a raglan finger, and this method of knitting is believed to give a more comfortable finger shape.

Now you can knit any gloves

Our article will introduce you to the nuances of knitting women's, men's and children's gloves. You will also find out which patterns are most suitable for these products.

Snow, frost and cold force us to insulate ourselves as much as possible and do everything so that our body minimally feels all the delights of winter. That is why during the cold season we try not to leave the house without a warm jacket, hat and gloves. It is the latter that we will talk about in our article. As a rule, knitted gloves that are sold in shopping centers and markets are not original or beautiful.

Most often they are made according to one template, changing only the color of the finished product. In view of this, if you want to have not only warm but also beautiful gloves in your winter wardrobe, then try knitting them yourself. In this case, you will have the opportunity to choose both the color and pattern of the future new thing.

How to knit women's gloves: diagram

Scheme No. 2

  • You need to start knitting women's gloves just like any other thing, by accurately determining the size. If you try to adjust the parameters of the product during the manufacturing process, you may end up not getting exactly what you planned. Therefore, if you do not want to waste your time, then take a sewing meter and take all the measurements as carefully as possible.
  • First of all, we measure the circumference of the hand, and then completely straighten the palm and measure the distance to the beginning of the base of the thumb. At the next stage, we measure the height to the little and middle fingers, and also find out the palm circumference at the base of the fingers. After this, you will need to knit a small sample from the yarn you will use to make your gloves. This must be done, because this is the only way you can find out the density of the knitting.
  • Having calculated the approximate number of loops in 1 centimeter, you can multiply this data by the circumference of the palm at the base of the fingers and find out how many loops you need to cast on the knitting needles at the very beginning of your work. If the resulting number is not a whole number, then simply round it. And you don’t have to be afraid that the extra 2-3 millimeters will cause the finished gloves to be too big for you. Some needlewomen, in general, argue that from the very beginning you need to add 4-6 loops to the data obtained and only then start knitting the elastic band of the product.
  • Therefore, if necessary, feel free to round the resulting number and get to work. Yes, and finally, I would like to say that it is best for inexperienced needlewomen to start knitting gloves from the bottom up. This will make it easier for them to figure out how to knit their fingers correctly.

How to knit men's gloves with knitting needles: video

  • In principle, men's gloves are knitted according to the same patterns as women's, except that the pattern for such products is chosen to be simpler. This could be, for example, stocking stitch. This pattern can also turn out quite cute. But to do this, during the knitting process you will need to carefully ensure that all the loops are the same size. Try to knit them in such a way that they are not too loose or tight, because all this will immediately affect the visual perception of the fabric.

    Knitting pattern for men's gloves
  • In the place where you make a mistake it will be slightly deformed. If you make such a mistake while knitting your fingers, they may turn out smaller or larger than necessary. As mentioned above, it is best to start knitting men's gloves with an elastic band. To make it moderately tight, knit it alternating two knit stitches and two purl loops. Yes, and don't make the elastic very small. Ideally, its length should be at least 5 centimeters.
  • If you make it smaller, then not only will the finished product not fit well on your hand, but it will also allow cold air to pass under the product itself and under the warm jacket. When making men's gloves, it is also extremely important to understand what your significant other will wear them with. If he needs them for formal clothes made in a classical style, then the threads for such a product must be purchased thin.
  • The finished product made from such material will look quite organic even with a formal business coat. If the gloves are worn with a down jacket or parka, they can be made from thicker yarn and even have some kind of geometric pattern.

How to knit children's gloves with knitting needles?

  • Children's gloves, unlike products for adults, can be more colorful and interesting. In this case, it is appropriate to use the richest shades. Therefore, you can safely buy yarn in red, blue, green, yellow, blue, orange and purple for knitting. If you wish, you can even make a rainbow out of this piece of children's wardrobe. Try knitting the elastic and the bottom of the gloves in a calmer and darker color, and knitting the fingers in different colors.
  • Also remember to choose the right yarn for these projects. Many parents, when going to buy threads, most often give preference to natural wool. And although this material is considered quite warm, it is not suitable for making children's clothes. Wool threads have one unpleasant feature: their villi irritate the skin quite strongly. And since the child is in motion almost all the time, his body sweats and this further intensifies the discomfort.
  • Therefore, it will be better if you choose some more modern material for making children's gloves. You can opt for acrylic with a small addition of wool. This yarn will retain heat very well, but will not irritate the skin of your son or daughter. And, of course, don’t forget that children’s gloves must have bright decor.
  • Therefore, you can try knitting an elastic band with grass with a small pile, or simply make original embroidery on the top of the product. All this combined with bright colors will turn gloves into your child's favorite thing.

How to knit gloves for a boy with knitting needles?

  • Even if you are a novice needlewoman, you have probably heard or read that you can knit children’s gloves exclusively on five knitting needles. In fact, this is not so; they can be made on two knitting needles. Moreover, this option for making a warm element of a children's wardrobe is more suitable for beginners. In this case, you will need to cast on not all the loops, but only half.
  • That is, first you will need to decide on the size (we told you how to do this at the very beginning of the article), find out how many loops you will need to cast on to begin with, and simply divide this number in half. The only thing you have to take into account is that there must be an odd number of loops, so if when dividing you get, for example, the number 20, then you need to cast on 21 loops. After the loops are cast on, they will need to be knitted purlwise.
  • This is necessary in order for a scar to form, which you will later sew with an ordinary needle. After this, you can safely move on to stockinette stitch or any other pattern that you like. When you realize that the fabric has the desired length, start adding loops for knitting the thumb. Having done this, remove all these loops onto a pin, purl the row and begin distributing the remaining loops on the remaining fingers. Having distributed them, form the remaining four fingers.
  • Having finished with them, return to the big one, remove the loops from the pin and knit them with the same stitch as all the others. Having knitted all the fingers, begin to gradually remove the loops in the front rows. Continue doing this until you have a straight row again. Next, we continue to knit the same way as we started and do not forget that at the end you definitely need to purl the row.

Knitted gloves - mittens

Mitten gloves

Knitting pattern

  • Mitten gloves will appeal to those people who lead an active lifestyle and spend almost the entire day outdoors. This element of your winter wardrobe will help you replace both mittens and mittens. Those who have worn both know that both of these products have their drawbacks. In mittens, over time, the hand begins to freeze so that it practically does not move in them. The mitts are where the fingers suffer the most.
  • Since they are not protected by anything, literally after half an hour of being outside they begin to turn blue and tingle. Therefore, if you want to avoid all these troubles, then try knitting yourself mitten gloves. This transformable product is knitted almost the same as standard models, but in this case you don’t have to knit your fingers all the way. In addition, you will definitely need to make a so-called hood that will cover your fingers.
  • When knitting such a product, you also need to start with an elastic band, so the transformable glove will fit better on your hand. And after it is ready, knit the widest part of the product in garter or stocking stitch. If you wish, then you can try to make some intricate pattern from English braids or any other relief ornament. And don’t forget to make sure that the hood has a small buttonhole so that it can be removed carefully.
  • It can be made from the same yarn as the whole project or from any other material you like and simply sew it on. This element, unnecessary at first glance, will help you avoid deformation of the product and prevent stretching of the loops at the base of the hood.

Openwork gloves with knitting needles: pattern with pattern

Knitting pattern with description

  • Openwork gloves are most often knitted under an evening coat. This product is usually made from thin soft yarn of white, blue, wine, watermelon or melange color. In this case, you can do without standard knitting an elastic band. Since it will not harmonize with the light and airy pattern, it can be replaced with stocking or garter stitch.
  • So, cast on the required number of stitches on circular needles and close them into a circle. Using a pin, mark where the first stitch of the row will be. This will make it easier for you to count the stitches for knitting an openwork pattern. After this, knit 2-4 rows of stocking stitch, and then proceed to creating an openwork ornament. When choosing a pattern, do not forget that you are making a winter product, so you should give preference to those patterns that will have a minimum number of holes.
  • This could be, for example, a Bulgarian cross, openwork rhombuses, floral paths or a wavy pattern. Yes, and if you want the finished product to be as warm as possible, then with an openwork pattern, knit only the back side of the glove. You can quite easily continue to knit the inner one with the same stocking stitch. When making this product, do not forget that the openwork pattern stretches quite well, so if you want the gloves to fit like a glove, then you can dial in a little less at the very beginning.
  • While knitting, be sure to periodically put the glove on your hand and see if the pattern is distributed correctly. If you notice that it warps in some place, then be sure to unravel several rows of the canvas and redo everything.

How to knit long and short fingerless gloves with knitting needles?

  • As you probably already understood, every woman can knit beautiful gloves. If you buy yarn and knitting needles in advance, then in just a couple of days you will be able to boast of an original new thing. In the case of fingerless gloves, great attention must be paid to the choice of threads. For this model, thin yarn without any inclusions or lint is preferable. If you like angora, then look for non-combed threads.
  • Of course, if you wish, you can use down material, but be prepared for the fact that the fluff will begin to curl very quickly and make your gloves not very beautiful. You need to select the appropriate knitting needles for this yarn. Thin threads are best knitted No. 2. This way the pattern will be more even and openwork. You need to start making such a product by tying the wrist. To make it as beautiful as possible, cast on the required number of stitches on the knitting needles and knit approximately 16 rows with an English elastic band.
  • The next part of the glove can be knitted with regular knit stitches. In this way, the fabric can be knitted up to the level of the thumb. As soon as you reach it, you immediately begin to make a pattern. Since you are creating a winter version of the product, it will be better if it is a dense ornament, for example, braids. When you reach the base of your fingers, begin to distribute the stitches. After that, all you have to do is finish the top part and you can put on the gloves.

Patterns for knitting gloves: diagrams

  • In principle, absolutely any pattern is suitable for knitting gloves, but there are still some types that are more suitable than others for things of this kind. English ribbing, stocking or garter stitch would look good on such a product. The main advantage of such patterns is their simplicity.
  • Due to the fact that they are knitted by alternating purl and knit stitches, even a novice needlewoman can make such a pattern. Another win-win pattern is considered to be plaits and braids. They look most harmonious on women's and children's gloves. To make men's models, it is best to choose relief patterns that are knitted by simply crossing the loops.
  • But remember, if you are going to knit your first gloves, then choose simple patterns for this, for example, a simple, complex or equal rib, pearl or patent pattern. Since they are knitted very simply, you are unlikely to make a mistake, which means that from the very first time you will get a fairly stylish and beautiful winter accessory.
