Vytynanki is a type of handicraft when figures are cut out of paper. They are glued to windows or used to decorate a room by attaching them to strings. The art originated in China in the 7th century after the invention of paper. Since then it has developed and came to Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. People use stencils when preparing for holidays: Christmas, Easter, birthdays. Preparing for the celebration improves family relationships and brings adults and children closer together. Paper produces openwork patterns, three-dimensional pictures, and funny New Year's scenes.

To prepare stencils you will need white paper, a stationery knife, nail scissors, and a simple pencil. Ready-made cuttings are found online and printed. If you want to get creative, you can draw the pictures yourself by hand and then decorate the room with them.

There are two ways to stick pictures to the window.

Option 1

Prepare a soap solution, wet one side of the stencil with a sponge and attach it to the glass. Subsequently, the protrusions are easily removed, and the glass is washed with clean water or a special window cleaner.

Option 2

Take toothpaste and dilute it in water. Dip the stencil in clean water and stick it to the window. Wet a sponge in a solution with toothpaste and blot the glass next to the glued snowflake with it.

You can first spray water on the window; such places will be more transparent. Wait until the solution dries and remove the snowflake. The result will be an unusual pattern - a transparent silhouette of the stencil, and around it a matte white color. After the holidays, toothpaste is easily washed off with clean water.

Wedding

To decorate the room, wedding-themed stencils are glued to the windows: bride and groom, wedding rings, fluttering doves. Protruding hearts will become relevant. They decorate not only the windows, but also the room itself.

Autumn leaves

Stencils of finished leaves can be found online. But it’s much more interesting to make them together with your child. You need to collect beautiful fallen leaves on the street. At home, it’s good to straighten them, put them in a book for 1-2 days and press them with a press.

Attach the leaves to the paper and trace along the outline. Mushrooms, nuts and other attributes of autumn are also used as autumn protrusions.

Ballerina

Delicate and graceful silhouettes will emphasize the festive mood. Usually the ballerina is depicted during a dance movement: standing on one leg with raised arms or making a graceful bow to the audience.

Summer

The summer theme is represented by vytynankas associated with the warm season. Usually these are stencils in the form of berries and fruits: strawberries, raspberries, pears, cherries, apples. You can decorate the windows with images of flowers; they symbolize the onset of summer: daisies, roses, dandelions, peonies. Droplets symbolizing rain are used as summer vytynankas.

Letters

Typically, stencils of letters on windows make up words and small combinations of words. The inscriptions symbolize the onset of a holiday or other special event. For example: “Happy Birthday!”, “Happy New Year!”, “Merry Christmas!” Signatures on the windows can be used to congratulate people living in neighboring houses on the holiday. In this case, the letters are glued in a mirror manner.

Digital

Numbers, like letters, symbolize some significant number. Most often, numbers are hung on windows before the New Year. They indicate the onset of the next calendar year, for example: 2018, 2019.

Sometimes numbers are glued to windows for children's birthdays (adults are unlikely to be happy with such a gift). Usually this is a short caption: “The little princess is 10 years old,” “Our boyfriend is 7 years old!”

Colors

Flowers are universal stencils, suitable for any event. They can decorate a room for no reason. The choice of vytynanka depends on the mood and preferences of the creator. These can be delicate roses, field and modest cornflowers or exotic edelweiss. If desired, make a garland or wreath of small flowers.

Patterns of vytynankas for the New Year

Decorating the house and thinking through the New Year's pattern is one of the important parts of preparing for the celebration.

There are two ways to cut a stencil:

  • Enlarge the picture on the computer screen. Place tracing paper or other transparent paper on the monitor and transfer the drawing. Then cut it out - this will be the stencil. The method is convenient if it is not possible to print the image.
  • For the second method you will need a printer. You need to choose the picture you like, download it from the site and print it. Using a utility knife or small scissors, cut out the protrusion.

Christmas trees

This is one of the main symbols of the New Year. You can cut out Christmas trees of different sizes by “planting” a spruce forest on the window. It is convenient to glue the vytynanki using a soap solution, then everything is easily washed off with water.

Snowflakes

Snow and snowflakes are popular vytynankas, companions of New Year and Christmas. Snowflake stencils are downloaded from the Internet. Those who wish can do them themselves. To do this, take a sheet of white paper, fold it into four or eight parts, and use nail scissors to cut out openwork patterns.

Houses

Small and large silhouettes of houses on the windows are complemented by falling snowflakes, Christmas trees, and deer rushing to wish children a Happy New Year.

Keys

Stencils in the shape of keys are also suitable for other holidays. When choosing vytynanki, it is important not to be afraid to fantasize. You can glue the outlines of large barn keys, small and elegant golden keys to the glass.

At Christmas

After the New Year, children and adults decorate the house for the Christmas holidays. Not only Christmas trees and snowflakes are chosen as examples of work, but also biblical themes. For example, they depict the Star of Bethlehem, a sheep pen, and the baby Jesus.

Winter patterns

Openwork patterns are made up of snowflakes of different shapes. You can get creative and cut out unusual designs on a large sheet of paper, then glue it to the glass.

Stencils are usually made from paper. This material is easy to attach to glass. The paper washes off quickly and leaves no marks. To decorate rooms, they also use other available materials: cotton wool, threads, white pompons. But they make voluminous protrusions. They are hung on threads from the ceiling.

This category includes any contours: animals, birds, people, trees, inanimate objects. You can cut out the protrusions of animals: silhouettes of hares, foxes, bears. Animals can be placed in a mysterious forest; to do this, additionally cut out several trees.

Asterisks

Excellent stencils symbolizing New Year, Christmas and other holidays. The stars look spectacular in the evening. If you also glue Santa Claus in a sleigh to the picture on the window, then in the dark you will get the feeling of being in a fairy-tale place.

Deer

In Catholic tradition, Santa Claus flies to children on a sleigh drawn by reindeer. Gradually, animals became firmly established in the symbolism of the New Year; the Russian Father Frost fell in love with riding reindeer. Animal sleds will complement the winter holidays.

Christmas angels

Angel figurines are becoming popular. They are glued to windows to decorate the house for Christmas. On both sides of the Christmas tree are attached figures of angels soaring on wings. Sometimes they hold flowers or Christmas wreaths in their hands, or play a musical instrument.

Bells

Small bells have always been associated with holidays. When thinking about the stencil, don’t forget to add a bow to the bell.

Tree branches

Stencils with Christmas balls or other toys are placed on the branches. Branches of spruce or pine trees are prepared as protrusions. They are more suitable for the New Year theme.

Father Frost

A wizard with a big white beard and a bag of gifts will decorate any window. Next to Santa Claus they glue the Snow Maiden, forest animals (hare, wolf, fox), and a carriage drawn by deer.

Month diagram for cutting

It’s easy to make a stencil for the month yourself, without downloading pictures from the Internet. Draw a circle using a compass. You can circle the bottom of a plate or mug, choosing the right size. Then draw another line, giving the month the desired shape (waxing or waning moon), cut it out and attach the stencil to the window.

Windows in children's rooms are decorated with funny cartoon characters, fairy-tale heroes or other funny figures. Older children cut out stencils on their own and stick them on windows, thinking up unusual plots.

Preparing for the holiday is a family event; joint decoration of windows and rooms brings adults and children closer together.

Smeshariki

Kids love to watch cartoons; they will be happy if their favorite characters “settle” in their room during the New Year holidays.

The mysterious Nyusha, the homely Kopatych, the dreamy Krosh and other characters from Smeshariki will make excellent company. Stencils with cartoon characters can be painted and hung not only on the windows, but throughout the room.

Fairy-tale heroes

The choice of stencils depends on the child’s preferences. Boys will enjoy robots, Spider-Man or another hero saving the world. Girls will love beautiful princesses or soaring fairies with a magic wand. You can come up with a festive plot, depict heroes in an enchanted forest or a winter city.

Air balloons

Vitinankas with balls are suitable for decoration for any holiday - New Year, a child’s birthday, last bell. The stencils are easy to cut and can be done even by preschool children. You can also release real balloons into the room; they will emphasize the holiday atmosphere.

Images of animals that the child likes are selected as stencils. These can be domestic animals: cows, goats, cats, dogs. Or wild animals: wolves, foxes, hares.

You can choose the symbol of the year according to the Eastern calendar as the main animal. This year the dog stencil is in demand. Next year will pass under the sign of the Pig, so piglets will be able to decorate the windows of any room.

Birds

Soaring pigeons, graceful swans, mysterious owls, even red-breasted roosters will appeal to babies and older children. Parents can suggest cutting out a lot of birds and hanging them on strings throughout the room. In the twilight, the kids will think that a flock of magical birds has settled in the bedroom.

A paper angel can be used as a Christmas tree decoration or home decor for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

When creating it, you can experiment with colors, but angels look best made from white paper.

Therefore, for the work you will need white paper or cardboard, a simple pencil, scissors, a template, and very rarely glue.

DIY paper angel: TOP 5

1 version of paper angel

Use the template provided and cut out the angel blank.

In the picture you can see two straight lines - they also need to be cut out, these are the slots with the help of which the appearance of an angel with wings will be formed.

Roll the workpiece as if into a tube, while directing the slit on the side to the cut near the angel’s head.

The cuts should meet all the way and you will get 2 symmetrical wings at the back, which hold together perfectly even without glue.

The angel is ready, it is stable on the surface, but you can also glue a thread to it to subsequently decorate the Christmas tree. If desired, the angel can be given an appearance. But this is optional.

Option 2 of cutting out an angel from paper

Using the template, cut out this sad angel with arms raised.

You need to cut along all the lines and be sure to have cuts for fastening. You can also cut out the heart in the middle, or paint it a different color, or, alternatively, apply silver glitter.

Option 3 volumetric angel

This craft is more complicated than the previous ones, since you not only need to carefully trim along the wavy edge, but also cut out circles. You also need to cut out the head and arms.

The workpiece is ready, all that remains is to connect the slots at the back and spread the beautiful wings.

True, this angel looks more like a fairy, but it will still look beautiful both on the Christmas tree and on any surface.

4 version of a paper angel according to the template

This option is a little similar to the first, only with hands. Print and cut out the template according to the template, carefully cutting the side waves and ring lines in the middle.

Further with the wings, the actions are the same, they need to be directed back and the slots connected. But at the same time, the ring on top of the head needs to be lowered down onto the front of the angel, and then squeezed a little in the middle to create hands folded in prayer.

5 version of the angel

The craft is different from all previous ones. The angel is stern and not at all childish. Reminds me of a monument. It’s beautiful on the surface, but, in my opinion, it has no place on the tree.

Print and cut out the template.

Fold the paper in half, place the template at the fold and trace. Then cut out the blank.

Open it up, make a ring at the bottom and glue the ends together to make a stand. You will get such a solid paper angel.

Choose the option you like and go ahead to the most interesting creative activity.

You can cut out the Christmas tree using a stencil as a silhouette, or you can make a symmetrical cutout by folding a sheet of paper in half. If you cut out two figures from tinted paper using the following stencil, you can connect them and get a beautiful three-dimensional New Year's composition. This composition will look great suspended from the ceiling or a lamp in the center of the room.

Paper protrusions: snowflakes and ballerinas

Snowflakes on windows are also vytynankas, perhaps the most common and popularly loved. Snowflakes can be very different, especially if the master uses all his imagination. You can create a symmetrical snowflake by folding the paper several times. If you try, you can even cut out snowflakes with stars at the ends of the rays.

You will find more in this collection
If you cut out a large enough snowflake, you can place a completely independent composition inside it. For example, a New Year's snowman or a snowy forest.

Snowflakes can take the form of light snow ballerinas. To do this, cut out the silhouette of a ballerina separately, put an openwork snowflake on it and hang it by a thread. The result is a very delicate, airy decoration that can be hung from the ceiling or lamp.

Vytynanki: Christmas balls

Silhouettes of Christmas tree decorations can be cut out either in a symmetrical pattern or using an individual stencil. These decorations can be used to complement a composition on a window, decorate a Christmas tree, or attach them with threads to a chandelier or curtain.

Vytynanki: New Year's bells

We make carved bells using a stencil. If you glue translucent paper, for example, tracing paper, to the inside of the cutout, then such a bell can be used with a backlight effect.

Silhouette cutout: deer, sleigh, cart

Another fabulous New Year's hero is the deer. The delivery of the wizard Father Frost and the Snow Maiden is associated with it. We offer stencils for cutting out deer, carts and sleighs.

Paper cut: snowmen

Charming Snowmen are another character of the New Year holiday. It’s easy to cut out their figures symmetrically, or you can make a “family photo of Snowmen” or a composition with a Christmas tree and children.

Large protrusions look great on a plain curtain and can completely replace complex decorations.

Composition of silhouette clippings with backlight

With openwork paper cutouts you can decorate not only the window, but also create a three-dimensional panorama on the windowsill. It will be especially impressive if you put a garland or small lights inside the box.

Huge variety: from angels of very complex designs, the production of which takes several hours, or even days, and requires a master class, to very simple little angels that can be made in a few minutes.

How to make an angel out of paper with your own hands?

First of all, you need to decide what kind of angel you will make. It’s probably not worth starting with complex crafts that require special skills. It’s better to start with simple, but very cute angels.

To cut out a simple angel from paper you don’t need a lot of experience and knowledge. Just take a sheet of thick paper and draw a cute angel on it. Cut it out and decorate it. Glue a loop of string or ribbon at the top of the craft. Voila! The adorable creation is ready!

In order for the angel to delight you for more than one season, it is better, of course, to make it out of thick paper or stick it on cardboard.

Materials you may need for making:

  • thick paper (whatman paper, cardboard);
  • scissors;
  • paints, pencils;
  • multi-colored glitters;
  • glue stick);
  • a beautiful ribbon or lace.

Volumetric angels

The next most difficult ones are voluminous paper angels. When making them, you already need to show some ingenuity. Here, there will probably already be a clear sequence of actions, the implementation of which is necessary to obtain the result.

First of all, you will need to print out a paper angel stencil on a printer or draw it by hand directly on the sheet that you are going to use. Then, carrying out strictly sequential actions, such as cutting, bending, folding, gluing, you will ultimately give the angel the necessary three-dimensional shape.

In the end, all that remains is to decorate the angel at your discretion and carefully glue a loop of lace or ribbon to it.

To make such angels you will need:

  • template, stencil crafts;
  • scissors;
  • thick paper, whatman paper (or any paper you like);
  • a beautiful ribbon or cord for hanging;
  • paints, pencils, crayons;
  • multi-colored glitters;
  • tape (transparent and colored, with pictures).

As mentioned earlier, there are many more ways and options to make an angel craft. There are complex and cumbersome designs that combine many paper elements and parts, requiring extraordinary knowledge and skill from their creator. We have already looked at two simple types of crafts that even a child can handle.

In any case, whatever type of paper angel craft you choose, it is guaranteed to be a wonderful time spent. Fantastic opportunities will open up for you to decorate your personal angel the way your heart dictates.

The main thing to remember is that you are not just making a craft, you are creating an angel. It is unlikely that anyone will dare to challenge your vision of the image, unless he is the one who saw a living angel with his own eyes or is one himself.
